Q1: How Does Your Product Use Or Challenge Conventions & How Does It Represent Social Groups & Issues?
This CCR answer goes deep into the heart of the question and:
- Delves into the conventions followed and overruled by the character of the Surgeon within the psychological thriller genre. It explores how traditional thriller tropes, such as tension building, plot twists and unreliable narrators, are manipulated and subverted by the Surgeon’s character.
- The mystery factor in the film is key to keeping the audience on edge, using ambiguous hallucinations and a fractured storyline to maintain suspense. Additionally, the representation of masculinity is central to the film, as the Surgeon embodies a complex and toxic form of masculinity, where violence, power, and control are intertwined with his mental breakdown.
- This portrayal challenges traditional perceptions of masculinity in thriller films and brings a deeper psychological layer to the character’s actions, as well as to the general psychological thriller genre.
- Lighting and camera shots and angles follow a steap path of the general psychological thriller conventions
Q2: How Your Product Engage With The Audiences & How Would It Be Distributed As A Real Media Text?
In this CCR question, a roleplay based teacher-student online class is being conducted:
- The focus is on how Insanity engages with its audience, particularly those who enjoy tension, drama, and gore. The film centers on a disturbed character with mental illness, making it stand out from typical serial killer stories.
- It uses voiceovers to give insight into the Surgeon’s deteriorating mental state, allowing the audience to experience his internal struggle. The film follows common psychological thriller conventions, like unreliable narrators and blurred realities, creating suspense.
- Distribution is planned through platforms like Google Play Movies, YouTube, and Amazon Prime, with engagement through Reddit and YouTube Shorts to attract viewers and encourage discussions around the film.
Q3: How Did Your Production Skills Develop Throughout This Journey?
In a newsletter like theme I'll be discussing;
- How different technologies and equipment shaped my filmmaking process. I will talk about how switching from a Samsung A51 to a Samsung S24 Ultra for voice recording improved the quality of my voiceovers. I’ll also cover how using a tripod helped me achieve more stable and precise shots, and how the use of a ring light elevated my visuals, especially for dramatic close-ups.
- Additionally, I’ll discuss the importance trial and error and how I progressed as a filmmaker from making my preliminaries to the actual short film. Overall, I’ll reflect on how these tools and techniques contributed to developing my technical skills and bringing my vision for Insanity to life...
Q4: How Did You Integrate Technologies - Software, Hardware & Online - In This Project?
In this Interactive Whatsaap based CCR, the present version of myself from the time I was just started to answer this CCR, will be asking my future self, who has already almost done everything, to help him answer this question. (i.e you can also send messages to my future self)
- Used the A51 for filming and the S24 Ultra for recording high quality sound, ensuring both visual and audio elements were up to standard.
- Utilized AI for minor coding tasks and Filmora 12/14 for editing, enhancing my technical skills and streamlining the production process.
- Blogger hosted the project’s blog, YouTube for video hosting, Instagram for surveys and audience engagement, while spotlights, ring lights, and Dell laptops helped with lighting and processing tasks.
